The Soulmates formed in the winter of 2013, when representatives of two musical generations met by chance: composer, songwriter, guitarist, singer and rock musician Dan Šustr (*1965, leader of Tichá dohoda) and ballad singer-songwriter Suzanne Winter (*1986, born Zuzana Vintrová). Despite the generation gap, the two musicians soon found that they enjoyed similar music with nearly identical roots: original artists from the 1960s and 1970s such as The Beatles, CCR and Led Zeppelin, as well as their successors in the 1980s and 1990s, including grunge bands, Oasis and Sheryl Crow. An initially spontaneous studio jam led to a collaboration between two rock souls and voices, and to cover versions of well-known and lesser-known songs by artists such as Neil Young and Patti Smith.

Hudební formace The Soulmates vznikla v zimě 2013, kdy se náhodou setkali představitelé dvou hudebních generací – skladatel, textař, kytarista, zpěvák a rockový písničkář Dan Šustr (Tichá dohoda, ročník 1965) s písničkářkou Suzanne Winter Vintrovou (nar. 1986). Přes generační propast oba záhy zjistili, že mají rádi podobnou hudbu a vycházejí z téměř identických kořenů: originálů ze 60. a 70. let, jako jsou Beatles, CCR a Led Zeppelin, i jejich následovníků z 80. a 90. let – grungeových skupin, Oasis nebo Sheryl Crow. Z původně náhodného jam sessionu v nahrávacím studiu vznikly coververze známějších i méně známých písní klasiků, jako jsou Neil Young či Patti Smith.
